The Freedom Order (The Order of Hamm)

Motto: “Smash the shackles of oppression.”

Leader: Sky, Champion Pugilist of Everwatch

Current membership: 2+

Headquarters: Tower of Hamm, Duchy of Everwatch

Affiliations: None officially although loosely aligned to Lady Kaitlin of the Duchy of Everwatch.

Hierarchy: The Order is run by a council of members. Each councillor is responsible for a different aspect of Order affairs e.g. property, treasury, security etc. Councillors are elected each year with votes cast by all available members. Councillors are responsible for organising and arranging work for members, dealing with issues particular to their area etc. Any issues that affect the whole Order or matters of discipline are discussed at a special meeting where Sky, as Order Head, has the deciding vote if required.

Charter: The Freedom Order opposes slavery in all forms, whether chattel slavery, forced or, where the original debtor has died, bonded slavery. This credo also extends to include people who have been falsely imprisoned or whose sentences are deemed to be excessive or punitive. Where slavery is found the Order will take the necessary steps to end the situation and bring those who profited to “justice”.

The Order actively recruits like minded members from the towns and cities across the Divine Empire as well as recruiting people from those who have been freed from slavery by the Order’s actions. This latter part even extends to races most would consider to be ‘evil’ although such circumstances are very rare.

Members of the Order take no oath nor swear an allegiance to anyone. However, while someone is a member of the Order they implicitly agree to abide by a certain code of conduct.

The Code:

  • I will, by my actions or inactions, bring no harm or detriment to the Order or its members
  • I will never let acts of slavery go unanswered
  • I will give to the Order more than I take from it
  • I will follow reasonable requests from Order Councillors to the best of my ability
  • I will ring the Freedom Bell once at sunrise and again at sunset on the day I decide to leave the Order at which point I will no longer be part of the Order
  • I will be offered protection by the Order so long as I adhere to this code
