Atroa (ah-TRO-ah) is the goddess of Spring, the East Wind, and Renewal. As the embodiment of Spring, she breathes life into the world, awakening it from its winter slumber. Atroa brings forth new love and vitality, rejuvenates old friendships, and resonates with the emotions of lovers, travellers, and poets. Known as the Sad Maiden, she encourages the season as a time to bury past grievances, repair what is broken, and shed old prejudices. Like the dawn that heralds new beginnings, Atroa inspires her followers to embrace the future with open hearts and minds, ready to fully experience its wonders. Her teachings emphasize the importance of taking responsibility for one’s actions and nurturing what one has cultivated, with neglect resulting in a great sin—be it allowing a plant to wither or a child to go hungry. The faith holds a fundamental belief in the intrinsic goodness of all people. Celibacy is discouraged, as Atroa advocates for marriage and motherhood; pregnant priestesses are revered as the most sacred among her followers.
Atroa's holy symbol is a heart featuring an air-glyph within, or a kara tree laden with ripe, red fruit. She is often depicted as a youthful woman with an eagle perched on her shoulder. Armed with her sling, Windstorm, she can strike foes from afar, and with her spherical glass talisman, Readying's Dawn, she possesses the power to melt any ice in sight. Atroa's divine domain, the Grove of Perpetual Spring, resides in the Brux layer of the Beastlands, and she is also believed to visit the realm of Morninglory in Elysium.
Two sects exist within the Atroan church: the Planterings and the Bearers. The Planterings focus on Atroa’s connection to the seasons, dedicating themselves to farming and celebrating spring while preparing for winter. Conversely, the Bearers emphasize renewal, nurturing families and promoting the growth of the human race, often running orphanages and typically comprising women.
Atroa is honoured by explorers, romantics, farmers, and all who rely on the earth's generosity.
