The town seems prosperous and certainly has the bustle of a thriving town. It established itself initially as a farming and fishing settlement, but trade of luxury goods is also on the up as items sourced from the plains and not found elsewhere are rising in demand back on the mainland. The town is run efficiently with strict law, upheld by the town guard, who in fact are the Household Guard of House Erasmus.
Two large temples have been erected of similar size that are the prominent buildings of the town. One to Zahak, and the other to Wee Jas. The second one of course being a necessity to house the Arcane Order of Thaumaturgists which must be present in every Kaegorian township. The sole governor of the town is Duke Jofra Terence Erasmus III
Town History
Kaegor Nova is a recent town built on the expansionism of True Kaegorian believers. Knowledge of the colonies has always been present and with the fact that they were not a ship bearing nation little has ever been attempted to colonize these wild, cold and desolate lands. That was until several years ago when Duke Erasmus III, took it upon himself to think otherwise and create the first Kaegorian settlement on these lands to claim on behalf of the True Emperor. Rumour has it that he had heard and seen similar expansionist actions by the successor stats with Zargoza settling Leosandria, and even further west where the Blood Islanders had settled what is now known as the Crimson Coast.
Taking with him his senior clergy representative of Zahak he approached some of the more affluent old nobility houses to seek funding. He also approached the Arcane Order to ensure magic was stabilised in the region. Thus, with the commerce and political weight behind him, his calling was heard by many. Since that time, he has established a robust town already with a good amount of trade from the region and sending back to True Kaegoria to spread further news of the success here.
The Duke holds an iron fist over the town and ensures it all runs smoothly and in the manner he wishes. He has established protocol and rulings that do seem to be working from a trade and political point of view. Anything or anyone who does go against his viewpoint soon changes their mind and positioning. He succours to a handful of the major houses of the Old Nobility who have visiting twice in recent years to great fanfare and merriment.
He utilises his own household troops to secure order in the region as well as acting as town guard. These are well led, with the officer core being ex-soldiers of the fabled Men of War units some of whom having served at War Abbey.
The Duke & House Erasmus
Duke Jofra Terence Erasmus III has established trade and commerce ventures in his hometown of Bowden. His house name is a lesser-known house of the Old Nobility, though he has loftier ambitions. Since the introduction of Starfall Ore his house, which had monopolised the region for trade found increasing competition - which wasn’t received well. In addition, there were more political arguments to settle between the clergy of Zahak and the Arcane Order over what to do with Starfall Ore. All of which culminated in his Houses name being further marginalised in the region and so he looked for new opportunities to establish a power base for his house name. The house still has commercial ventures around Bowden providing a steady income. This led the Duke to the new colonization lands of Kylma.
He has three key advisors who he leans upon for advice Paragon Sigebert Mason (M, Cleric) his clergyman of Zahak, Captain Percival Eadbert (M, Fighter) his military officer overseeing his household guard and Talon Leofrun Standale (F, Wizard) of the Arcane Order of Thaumaturgists
It is widely believed that the success of the colonization by House Erasmus has had a positive effect in increasing the houses status in the old nobility. However, that being said it is still only a minor house. Rumour has it that the house also has dealings in Tervingard, though little is known or to what extent. However, one persistent rumour is that a ship arrives weekly from there, receives further supplies from the town, before sailing further down the coastline. No one, nor any cargo leaves the ship, it just arrives, then goes.
