One weeks ride to the East of Leosandria along the north coast of Kylma lies the settlement of Thordum. Though technically part of the Republic of Zargoza it is in practice free of any outside control. It is a relatively new border town, circa 22 years, that was established to cash in on the rich agricultural land and timber in the surrounding countryside. In the last 6 years they have established and started to mine iron ore in the mountains directly south, this is only a minor pilot enterprise verifying the amount of ore reserves there and not yet established. It is a small border town that is reasonably established but areas are still in build stage, e.g. changing embankments to walls, wood house to stone etc. On the colder southern continent winters can be hard but Thordum is thriving and growing.
The established economy is mainly farming & lumber mills with plenty of merchants and traders in town. Not on a trade route but other outlining hamlets are building up to establish a network in the region. It has an established council and town amenities. The town guard consists of 26 full time men and Thordum has a further 130 militia reservists. Though the main temple is to Pelor there are smaller ones for Zilchus, Osprem and Wee Jas.
Ambre Isobel - Nominated Mayor (Appointed from Leosandria) – Human Cleric of Pelor, Female. A stern straight faced priestess of Pelor. She ensures fairness across the board and that law is established and followed. The protection and ensuring the success of Thordum is her objective. She regularly reports back to powers that be in Leosandria. To assist in the running of the town she nominated the council members, all of whom have equal votes for decision making, though she has the casting vote if anything is tied.
Council Members
Judit Devere - Human Farmer, female – Judit has created a programme of farming that is aimed at self-sustainability of the town first and foremost. At present the town still relies on regular merchant ships supplying from Leosandria. She seems to be a charming, educated and sociable person and has made many friendships around the town.
Anthoine Carter - Human Trader, Male. Anthoine is the administrator of the town, ensuring the right permits are used, things are managed efficiently and that the town has the adequate planning behind its layout and defences as well as its commercial and industrial sectors underpinning it all. He is originally from Zargoza
Kadak Tholtiam - Half Orc Ranger, scout, male. A solitary figure who when asked provides quite alarming clarity and accurate views from an outsider looking inwards to the dealings of the town. Often ranges out to provide pivotal warning and alarms to the Guard and or the Council of matters they need to pay attention too.
Skodrul Grayfury - Dwarven Miner and owner of Rockworks. A stern commercially driven dwarf who has already carved out the market for construction works of the town as well as sourcing the materials via having mining rights in the local hills.
Establishments
Thordrum Tower (1) – defensible tower currently used by the town guard and rally point of the militia if called. Senior Warden of the town guard is Mengu Khashi (Hugond, Fighter)
Winter Bridge (2) – A stone bridge, originally made from Wood this has since been replaced with a stone foundation to prevent rotting and fire. The upper structure is still wood, and local traders plough their trades atop its walls.
Sacred Temple Area (3) – a conclave of the temples, all in differing states of build. Most prominent is the temple to Pelor, followed by what will be an equally resplendent temple to Zilchus. Osprem and Wee Jas have smaller temples
Rockworks (4) – Construction and Stonemason. Ran by Skodrul Grayfury. If something is being built in Thordum then these guys are building it. Other building suppliers have tried to start up but apparent shortage on supplies soon makes them fail.
Taverns
The Languished Lady (5) – Ran by Gabyelle Baniste. She lends her establishment to the higher echelons of society; she has increased rates to ensure those who cannot afford cannot enter. She runs a very clean, efficient business and is clearly a person with many contacts and a strong business acumen. Rooms, quality food, fine ales and wines and other activities can all be purchased at the Languished Lady
Righteous Sons alehouse and inn (6). Ran by the Tulles brothers
A more down-to-earth establishment though still offering clean service, good hearty food and a good selection of Ales. Of which is the famous Tulles Tornado ale, not one for an individual with a fragile constitution
Shops
Mighty Forge Tools (7) – a shop selling ironmongery, weapons and tools. General blacksmithy who can fix a shoe or make you a mighty masterwork longsword. Main workload is tool making for the local mining and farming communities. Dwarven Blacksmith - Lodrit Heavybraids
Guardians Embrace (8) – Local armourer. Ran by a giant of a man called Eagor Haket who specializes in making armour. He sources his materials in the new mines south of the town. The shop only opens 2 days per week, the remining days he is outsourcing new vein ores.
Catch & Cook (9) – local fishmarket and cook house specialising in local produce. Always popular is the “fresh catch of the day” menu. Ran by the jovial Abelart Taney. In addition to fish, he also sells all manner of foodstuffs, wine and ale
Minnies Fachion imporium (10) – Minnie Ingrams, weaver & seamstress extraordinaire! Or how she puts it. Works and lives at her emporium which doesn’t live up to its name. low to medium value items are available and even on these stocks are low.
SaddleUp (11) – ran by the the cheeky Sharner Rumbledream (Male, Halfling). Hailing from the old empire he has moved to Thordum to secure and lock down the trade market for all equestrian needs. Being so remote and with local produce being weighty he has his finger in every pie. Without his horses, donkeys or wagons everything would stand still. Seems to have connections to the local Hugond tribe people where he sources his livestock
